Flood 2002

We experienced another flood in 2002, after we had moved to Carmencita. I had selected these pictures for a webpage I didn't finish, and found them when I was moving our original webpages to the new server in 2009. Better late than never!

This time, the elevators didn't stop functioning, so we got out in the weather to see what was happening. In the pictures above you can see what we experienced when we drove on the street where we had first lived. Due to the bad conditions we didn't drive all 8 blocks to actually see the building. We also walked a bit, but not very far, since our boots weren't high enough to keep our feet dry.

Our neighborhood wasn't as badly affected as other parts of the cities, as you can see in the following flood pictures that I found online on various Santiago newspaper websites.

In our apartment, we soon discovered that we had a problem from the heavy rain. Water came into the storage area in the kitchen underneath the windows. The owner of the apartment came over with her handyman and helped him set up a temporary solution to keep out the water until a permanent fix could be made.

After the rain, it was delightful to see the fresh new snow on the nearby mountains from our terrace.
