Second Stop: Albuquerque, New MexicoAugust 18-21 |
| Tuesday, August 18, we began our second leg of the trip with a visit to Artie's former Administrative Assistant
from Dallas. Claudia and her husband Mitch now live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We enjoyed several days catching up, and visiting this unique area of the United States. |
| Each day began with a walk of their two dogs, Jake and Skipper. After a few days, Claudia and the dogs all had Artie trained quite well to lead them (or follow them) around the neighborhood. The cats, Dust Bunny and Mesha, were independent enough to take care of themselves. | ||
We took a day-trip to Santa Fe, a 400 year-old city with a very special "look." |
There's no doubt that you are out West.
| Claudia introduced us to South Western cuisine at this famous restaurant, "The Shed." Claudia enjoyed some spicy green chili, while we opted for milder fare. | ||
With food in our bellies, the girls were ready to shop!
This street-side strip provided a great opportunity to find hand-crafted items by local Navajo Indians and other Native American tribes. |
| Margy found a beautiful ceramic frog that had to come home with us! Margy and Claudia also found nice jewelry. | ||
| Colorful shops lined all the streets, making for fun strolls and exploration. All types of creative arts were shown. |
| We ended our day on Canyon Road, where over 100 art shops and galleries line over a mile of streets. Santa Fe has more art galleries than any USA city of its size. |
The next day we had lunch with Mike, the son of Steve, a co-worker friend of Artie's from nearly 30 years ago through to retirement. Mike's wife, Pak and their beautiful one year old daughter, Kalliyanna, met us after lunch to say "hi." |
| Claudia drove us around Albuquerque to see the local countryside, including this quaint organic farm. We enjoyed many pretty views throughout our three days with Claudia. |
| Mitch joined us for the last day of our visit, after returning from out-of-town work. They are shown here in front of their lovely home. |
Mitch and Claudia.
