June USA Trip |
||
| We went to the USA for our homeleave, arriving on the 2nd. We had arranged for Cristián to come from Spain to join us for what was a brief visit in New Jersey, wedding in Bear Mountain, NY, and our own 37th anniversary celebrated with family and friends during a week in and around our New Hampshire condo. | ||
| First stop was a short visit with Ray and Shelley in New Jersey. Adella joined us for a wonderful dinner and the musical entertainment provided by Cristián who had brought his new baroque guitar. | ||
| The next morning Jill stopped by for some hugs and we stopped by to see Adella on our way north to the wedding. |
| Devlin and Peter were married in an historical old home on the Palisades. We managed to get there just a bit too late to see Devlin come down the stairs, but it looked dramatic. | ||
| During the wedding we heard about how Peter from Sweden and Devlin met and fell in love on vacation in the far east. | ||
| Devlin's best friend since nursery school and travel companion to Asia was the maid of honor. Her parents live in the historic house where the wedding took place. | ||

| The reception was at Bear Mountain State Park in a building containing a full sized merry-go-round! What fun! Everyone rode and/or watched. | ||
| There was also good food, fun, music and dancing. It was nice to have this opportunity to spend time with many of Margy's sisters and their families. | ||
| We stayed overnight in one of the cabins in the park, and we enjoyed the natural views and extra time with family, at the brunch the next morning for those of us who were still there. | ||
| We stopped in Waltham for a few minutes to see Larry and Marianne on our way up to New Hampshire. Danny and his kids were there, so we enjoyed seeing them too. |
| What a delight to be able to spend some quality time with Cristián in our condo in Nashua! He spent much
of the time practicing his music, and we did a lot of shopping and worked on assemblying the desk at the right.
|
| On our 37th wedding anniversary we met Larry and Marianne, Danny and Roberta, Maddie and Max, and Den and Cari (who had driven up from Maryland) for dinner. | ||
| We took this opportunity to return the well-traveled Flat Stanley to Maddie, complete with his Chilean flag. | ||
| After dinner, those of us with later bedtimes headed to Larry and Marianne's house for a private concert. Cristián showed his new baroque guitar to all of us and explained about the history of the pieces that he played for us. |
| Den and Cari stayed over with us at the condo. Cristián gave up his room and slept on a makeshift bed on the floor in the living room. The visit was filled with music (including Artie's new banjo and his old guitar), conversation and laughter. | ||
| Danny came up to spend some more time with us in Nashua after Den and Cari left. He got to enjoy his own private concert by Cristián. |

There was a lot of rain during our trip, but we enjoyed all the greenery and beauty of our condo community. |

| After taking Cristián to the Boston Airport, for his return to Spain, we made a quick stop to see Sherry and Stewart and their daughter Ali at their downtown Boston apartment. We enjoyed a quick home-made dinner they prepared and then ran back to our condo to prepare ourselves for the next day's return to Chile. | ||||
| We stopped by and saw Larry before heading to the airport ourselves the next day. Marianne was at a meeting, so we couldn't see her before we headed to the airport. We enjoyed these views of Boston and its harbor as we flew off to Chile, filled with fond memories of this wonderful trip. | ||
