Our 2005 Homeleave -

July 11-27, 2005

Connecticut and New Jersey

On our way to New Jersey we stopped at the home of John Guy LaPlante, who had visited us in Santiago. After publishing a book about his trip around the world, his son gave him this world map with his route marked.

John showed us around town, served us a good lunch, and signed some of his books for our friends during our short stop.

Artie with Linda and Steve   Our next stop was Metuchen, New Jersey, where we quickly got caught up with some of Artie's friends from his neighborhood. Steve lived on the same street where Artie grew up, and Linda went to the same summer camp as Artie when his parents traveled through Europe one summer. The following summer all three of them went to the same camp, where Steve met Linda!
In New Jersey, we went to see Artie's 91 year old mom, Adella. She showed us the changes that she had made to her apartment at Harrogate, and went with us to Toms River so we could see the changes at Ray and Shelley's.   Adella looking good at 91!

We stayed with our friends John and Lori. One evening they took us to a fun diner, where Artie got to enjoy his favorite corned beef on rye. They also fed us excellent breakfasts at home. We enjoyed seeing the pictures that they had from the African camera safari they had taken.
