2005 Highlights |
||
| In January, Mónica was still enjoying a multi-generational and multinational visit of her family. Her son and daughter-in-law had come with their baby from Mexico for Christmas, and her mother, sister and niece were visiting from England. Mónica's family is our family in Chile, so we shared many precious moments with them. | ||

| Chris Corwin, HR manager from Dallas visited in mid January to assist with union contract negociations. In a few spare moments before he headed back to the states, Artie took him to a feria so he could buy a few keepsakes of his first visit to Chile. | ||
| In early February, some friends from Lake City, Florida visited Santiago before continuing on a cruise. Vern was the former works manager for OxyChem's Florida Operations, and he presented a key to Lake City to Artie from the mayor of Lake City, a friend and former member of Artie's staff in Florida. | ||
| When Vern and Maureen Lloyd visited our apartment before we went out to dinner, we enjoyed looking through some photo albums and reminiscing about the places and people we had known in our years in Lake City. This inspired us to include Florida in our itinerary for our homeleave in July. | ||

| In March, Artie started a new hobby. He bought tatamis and set up a dojo in our apartment building. To learn more check out the webpage that he created, by clicking on the link above. | ||||
| In April we traveled to Spain to see our dear Cristián who is studying in Seville. Our First Trip to Spain is the beginning of a 9 page travelogue of our experiences. | ||
|
April was also a month with birthdays, and we celebrated Cote's at Mónica's and Artie's at the club. |
||
| In May, we gave Margy's old laptop with its brand new screen to Mónica. She replaced its keyboard and set it up to use as a teaching tool for the English classes that she now has in addition to her Spanish classes. Her desktop picture is always a photo of her beautiful granddaughter, Catalina. |
|
In June Mónica accompanied her mother when she returned to London. We saw them off at the airport. |
||
| Artie was also traveling later that day. He went to Dallas for a business meeting and while he was there he received his 25 year service award from his boss Mike Hassett. | ||
|
Artie managed to find time for short visits with some of our friends in the Dallas area. |

| Margy went to the annual 4th of July Flag Raising ceremony at the American Embassy. | ||
| Artie barely had a chance to turn around before we both headed to the USA for our annual homeleave. We first planned
the trip in order to attend Margy's 40 year high school reunion, but it turned out to be a trips just filled with
reunions in many places and with many dear friends. Homeleave 2005 is the first page of seven that are filled with pictures and stories of our trip. |

| In early August, the US Embassador to Chile,Craig Kelly, paid a visit to the OxyChile plant. | During the same month, while Christian was in Chile from Spain, we enjoyed his music during a concert. | |
| In September, we had a lot to celebrate. We made another trip to the USA, this time to look for a home for vacations and part of the year after retirement. We bought Our Condo in the building at the left in Nashua, New Hampshire. We brought Adella back with us to Chile to celebrate two more events: Chile's Independence Day and our traditional Thanksgiving Dinner at the club with friends, exactly two months early. | ||

| We all went to see Cristián earn his 6th kyu in Aikido in the morning before Adella returned to the USA, and the next day we saw Cristián off to Spain for his second year at the Music Conservatory in Seville, where he has been doing very well. His girlfriend, Antonia is spending December to February in Europe, studying music in Amsterdam on a grant. So the young couple has and will have an easier time of being together at times this academic year. |
| In October, Irv Kowenski, President of Occidental Energy Ventures Corp., came to Chile to help with energy issues. The view here is of San Vicente Bay near the plant. |
| OxyChile celebrated 35 years of operations. The event was combined with the annual employee service awards dinner, this year including all employees and their spouses. Artie gave an entertaining speech and we enjoyed sharing these special moments with all the employees. |
| At the end of October we became the legal owners of our condo, but we weren't there to see it. In November, Artie's nephew Danny went there to accept the delivery of the furniture that we had ordered. | ||||

| What a difference a month can make! In December Mónica and we went to get our condo set up. Snow! On this trip we also had the opportunity to see a lot of family members. | ||
| After we returned to Santiago, Mónica had a dinner to share the photos and stories with Flaca, Alejandro, Gustavo, Cote and Cesar. | ||
| On Christmas Eve, we all gathered at Mónica's son's house, along with Flaca's mother, Patricia, to enjoy dinner, gift exchange and good times: a great way to head into the final days of the year. | ||
|
This has been a full year of travel, new experiences, and making plans for the future. Best of all is the special feeling of being with old and new friends and with family. It is always great to share wonderful times together, or at least to share the moments through these photos and comments when unable to connect in person. We hope you will also browse the specific events in the other web-page links, which have more detail for you to enjoy. Our best wishes to all of you, Artie and Margy |
