Our Condo in New Hampshire

In September we traveled to New Hampshire to look for a condo to enjoy USA vacations for now and after retirement as a place to spend part of the year. We focused our search in Nashua, because of its proximity to family, good summertime weather, and delightfully low taxation.
Our Realtor, Patty Longo was a pleasure to work with and with her help, we now own the first floor unit at the front right corner of the building.

The former owner is also named Patty. She and her husband Bill are very gracious people with excellent taste and decorating style. We arranged to purchase most of their household goods. This made moving out easier for them and moving in a breeze for us. Our new home is in Sky Meadow, a gated golf course community. It is beautifully landscaped with lakes, walking trails and a variety of home styles including stand alone homes, townhouses, and five multi-story apartment buildings.

Our lawyer handled the closing at the end of October, and in November, our nephew Danny accepted the delivery of the few pieces of new furniture that we had ordered from a local store. In December, summer in Chile but winter in New Hampshire, we made our first trip there to organize the apartment. Mónica joined us to help. As you can see we had a lot of stuff for the initial setup. Normally we would have a car take us to the airport, but this time Artie ordered a van!

Entering New Hampshire, on US 3 (about an hour northwest of Boston), our condo is less than two miles from the first exit. We arrived on a Thursday, and quickly had to adjust to winter weather. A nor'easter swept into New England the following day. Mónica was thrilled to experience a real snow storm, with at least a foot of snow in one day, while we quickly remembered our years in New York state. It didn't stop us from several shopping trips.

		Our friends from Syracuse University, Stewart and Sherry, now living in Boston, came the next day to visit us. They helped us pick out some area rugs and also shopped with us at CVS pharmacy at one of the malls. They shared a disk of pictures of their cute new granddaughter with us, and Mónica shared pictures of hers!

		Margy and Mónica cleaned up a beautiful credenza that had been stored in the garage storage room, so that it could be used in the master bedroom. The apartment began to take shape!
