Autumn Walks

We often go out for walks on the weekends, and when the day seems special, we take along our cameras!

May 2nd was such a day.

The autumn colors were delightful, and were enjoyed by many in the park across the street from our apartment building (on right below).

This was a special day with the reflected glow of the sun warming Margy's face as she sat on one of the many benches set along a major street in our neighborhood.
By mid June, the snow had already fallen on the mountains. We enjoy being able to see this splendid view from the terrace of our apartment.

At ground level, we often go to check on the progress of various construction projects being worked on nearby. This bridge is one of many new ones being built to improve traffic flows in coordination with a major new highway that is being built along and under the river!

Along some sections of the new road, the park that runs beside the river becomes the roof of the tunnel. In other sections, such as this one about a mile from our apartment, the highway is exposed to the open air within the park.

If you have visited us here, you might recognize Santiago's World Trade Center Building on the right.
Even though there is fresh snow in the mountains on this day in June, it is still a pretty autumn day in Santiago.

In the sculpture garden in the riverside park, this modern sculpture seems to complement the Araucaria araucana, the Chilean pine or Monkey Puzzle Tree.

Hmmmm, here's a hole in a wall. Just what is Margy looking at?

She is checking on the progress of the construction of a new mega supermarket (Jumbo), hardware store, mall and office complex being built across the street from the river near Santiago's World Trade Center building. It will be a delight to have this in walking distance from our apartment.

Santiago is beautiful city with creative architecture. The area near our apartment is often referred to as Sanhattan with its own version of skyscrapers. There are many unique views and reflections as you walk these streets.
