John Guy Laplante Jan 26-Feb 8, 2004 A retired journalist and friend of Margy's cousin Keith, John visited us towards the end of his around the world adventure at 75 years old. We were happy to get to meet John and enjoy his many stories and inquisitive style.

Each week he consolidated his notes and then sent a detailed account of his travels to his hometown newspaper in Deep River, CT.

		John enjoyed learning about everything and was fascinated to see our musical instruments. Artie played his banjo for him and we both played our handmade guitars.

Artie drove up into the Andes with John one day so that he could see what the mountains were like, since John had already gone to see the Pacific Ocean earlier in the visit.

True to form, John met some people in this very remote spot and got into a conversation with them. These ladies are entomologists who are studying a bee, newly discovered on this mountainside only one year ago. Wherever he goes, there is a story to be found.
