Claudia Sprowso's Visit

Claudia came for a visit for 10 days in May, 2003.

Because of the Labor Day holiday in Chile, we took advantage of the long weekend for a road trip. Mónica joined Claudia and us for a trip to La Serena and Combarbalá. We spent a night in a hotel in La Serena, where we enjoyed sightseeing and shopping.

After some last minute shopping in La Serena, we drove through the beautiful countryside to the small town Combarbalá, where the artisans work in combarbalita, the famous stone of Chile. We went to all the stone shops there!

The dogs of Santiago were happy when Claudia got back into town. Early in her visit, our vegetarian friend went out and bought hot dogs. She carried them in a zip lock bag in her belly bag whenever she went out, so she could feed hot dogs to any hungry dogs she saw. Claudia volunteers as a dog rescuer in Dallasis very aware of stray dogs and if they look hungry.

Sometimes they followed, hoping for seconds.

Claudia helped us decorate for and celebrate Cristián's birthday. After a birthday toast, pizza, the birthday cake and gifts, we sang some songs.

Claudia and I shared our crib sheet with the words to "Feliz Cumpleaños." The tune is the same as "Happy Birthday to You," but in Spanish each line is different, and I never can remember them.

Claudia's visit was a great visit for all of us.
